A Mayo Mountain Rescue team would not be complete without a Connemara man. If only to tease!
Vincent Kane joined the team in 2020. Growing up on the shores of the spectacular Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only fjord, he is no stranger to hills and mountains.
Vinnie’s father built currachs and Vinnie spent his summers as a kid fishing for salmon on the Killary. After a time travelling the world to far flung places like Bolivia, Kenya and Jordan, Vinnie is back home on the fjord, working on a catamaran, looking after tourists and visitors and when he’s not doing that, he loves traipsing outdoors. He says that the best part of being on a mountain rescue team is the craic.
